Officials say the pilot is in stable condition and received treatment at a local medical facility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">Video footage from station <a href=\"https:\/\/fox5sandiego.com\/news\/local-news\/smoke-fire-mcas-miramar\/\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Fox 5 San Diego<\/a> captured grey smoke wafting from the downed aircraft.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">It\u2019s unclear what led to the crash, which officials characterized as a \u201cClass A mishap\u201d. She referred additional questions to Miramar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">The F-35B is one of several versions of the advanced stealth fighter jet that is flown by the Marine Corps, navy and air force. The \u201cB\u201d version has an engine that is designed for short takeoffs and is capable of vertical landings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">Last month, a Marine fighter jet crashed in Washington. Federal authorities described it as a \u201cnon-fatal aviation mishap\u201d, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimaherald.com\/news\/local\/marine-corps-fighter-jet-crashes-near-rimrock-lake-pilot-ejects\/article_0e093c92-35ad-4348-a68b-39de0a7e9e09.html\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">according<\/a> to the Yakima Herald-Republic.
