{"id":4158,"date":"2026-05-29T21:39:47","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T21:39:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usglobalnews.com\/2026\/05\/29\/us-government-protecting-data-cartels-whistleblower-to-rt-video\/"},"modified":"2026-05-29T21:39:47","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T21:39:47","slug":"us-government-protecting-data-cartels-whistleblower-to-rt-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.usglobalnews.com\/?p=4158","title":{"rendered":"US government protecting \u2018data cartels\u2019 \u2013 whistleblower to RT (VIDEO)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Sam Altman\u2019s Open AI is building a monopoly on human knowledge, Zach Vorhies has warned<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>AI megacorporations like OpenAI and Anthropic have scraped every word of human knowledge from the internet, and the US government is helping them sell it back to the public, Google whistleblower Zach Vorhies has told RT.<\/p>\n<p>OpenAI CEO Sam Altman caused controversy last month during an appearance at BlackRock in Washington DC, when he described his company\u2019s vision of <em>\u201ca future where intelligence is a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In Altman\u2019s future, AI companies will essentially charge users for access to data that they have collected for free by scraping libraries, archives, forums, and everywhere else knowledge is stored.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThese cartels have gone through and they\u2019ve downloaded the data for themselves, before everybody else knew about it, and then once they downloaded it they shut the door behind them, which prevents researchers, it prevents startups from being able to challenge them,\u201d<\/em> Vorhies told RT on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The US government has helped AI companies operate as cartels, he argued, by waging <em>\u201clawfare\u201d<\/em> against free alternatives. These include Anna\u2019s Archive, which bills itself as <em>\u201cthe largest truly open library in human history,\u201d<\/em> and was ordered to pay Spotify $300 million in damages last month for scraping the entire platform, and Z-LIbrary, which was shut down by the FBI in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>These sites were <em>\u201cessentially are the great Libraries of Alexandria of our time, and right now the United States is burning them to the ground,\u201d<\/em> Vorhies said, pointing out that OpenAI has been granted <em>\u201cessentially a monopoly\u201d<\/em> on information by the government.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n        <span><strong>Read more<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<figure>\n            <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mf.b37mrtl.ru\/files\/2026.05\/thumbnail\/6a1856d6203027506f665794.jpg\" alt=\"FILE PHOTO.\"><figcaption><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/news\/640680-ai-giants-jobs-apocalypse-split\/\">AI giants split on \u2018jobs apocalypse\u2019<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This monopoly, however, faces a challenge from Chinese AI firms like DeepSeek and Quen, which have scraped and collected the same information as their American counterparts. <em>\u201cWhat\u2019s going to happen is that these other cartels from these other countries\u2026are going to be able to drive the cost down, and hopefully that\u2019s what we see,\u201d<\/em> Vorhies said.<\/p>\n<p>A former engineer at Google, Vorhies leaked more than 950 pages of internal documents in 2019, which revealed that the search giants blacklisted hundreds of websites and hid them from users\u2019 news feeds. Among the blacklisted sites were conservative news outlets like the Daily Caller, the Drudge Report, and the Gateway Pundit.
