(That doesn&#8217;t include the 11 American cities where a World Cup game will be played.) The tournament begins on June 11 and runs through July 19. And it&#8217;s the first to take place in the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2026\/05\/09\/nx-s1-5795791\/2026-history-soccer-fifa-world-cup-fans\" target=\"_blank\">since 1994<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This week, FIFA finalized the list of where each team will train. Here&#8217;s a breakdown by state.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"edTag\"><strong>Arizona<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Turkey<\/strong> will train at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"edTag\"><strong>California\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Golden State is hosting seven teams. In Northern California, <strong>Australia<\/strong> will train at the Oakland Roots and Soul Sports Club in Oakland, while <strong>Paraguay<\/strong> will set up camp at San Jose State University&#8217;s Spartan Soccer Complex in San Jose.<\/p>\n<p>In Southern California, the<strong> United States<\/strong> will make the Great Park Sports Complex in Irvine its home base. <strong>Qatar<\/strong> will train at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, and <strong>Austria<\/strong> at the University of California, Santa Barbara&#8217;s Harder Stadium in Goleta.
